Handpicked Selling Service Terms and Conditions

Selling Process:

  1. Sellers must follow our brand and condition guide, available on the website, before bringing in items to sell.
  2. Items are initially checked when dropped off; however, we may refuse or remove items from sale after the initial checks if they do not comply with our conditions guide.
  3. Suitable items will be priced by us based on past resale value data and research. The resale price is typically around 1/3 of the current available price for used items. New items, with original tags or packaging and no signs of wear, may sell as new for 50% of their current retail price.
  4. Luxury items are valued based on previous resale values, and occasionally we may ask a 3rd party service to value an item. Luxury items will be valued, and a price confirmed with the seller before the item goes on sale unless otherwise agreed by the seller.
  5. Once your item sells, and the payout becomes due, you'll receive an email notification. The payout can take between 7-30 days to become available to us. Once available, it will be included in our next scheduled payment run. Payments can be made in cash or via BACs by request. Cash payouts are run weekly, and BACs payouts are run monthly.
  6. Unsold items can be collected, or we can arrange for them to be donated to a local charity. You will be asked about your preference for unsold items when you drop items into the selling service. If you change your mind, contact us in a timely manner.

Authentication Process:

  1. It is illegal to sell counterfeit, copies, or replicas. Ensuring authenticity is our priority. Items are initially checked in-house, using various methods. Mulberry bags are checked and authenticated in-house, while other luxury brands are checked in-house and by a 3rd party authentication service.
  2. Certificates, if obtained, will be supplied to the new owner upon request when purchasing. Certificates are supplied in a digital format.

Commission and Payout:

  1. Handpicked takes a commission from each sale, typically between 30-50% of the final selling price, depending on the item.
  2. The commission rate for standard items is 50%. For luxury and designer items, the commission ranges from 30-50%, depending on factors such as item type, brand, condition, and demand. Commission is set when items are submitted into the selling service.
  3. Handpicked is an agency and does not own the items, only selling them on behalf of sellers. All items sold must be legal to sell, and sellers are responsible for complying with all applicable laws. If we believe that a seller does not hold the right to sell an item, we will refuse the item into the selling service, and any selling accounts or associated selling accounts will be closed.

Return Policy:

  1. If a seller changes their mind and would like to collect an item, please contact us 48 hours before calling into the shop to collect.
  2. Items left for sale with Handpicked may NOT be advertised privately for sale by the seller anywhere else.
  3. If an item is found to be for sale via another selling service or private selling platform, Handpicked has the right to remove the item from sale and hold it until the end of the 90-day period.

Termination of Service:

  • Either party can terminate the selling service agreement by providing written notice 30 days in advance.

Communication Preferences:

  • All communication is via email. Sellers must ensure they have provided correct email and contact information. It is also the seller's responsibility to check for emails, add us to their contact list, and avoid emails being caught in spam or junk folders.

Collection of Unsold Items:

  • Sellers are responsible for collecting unsold items within 14 days of the end of the 90-day selling period. Handpicked may contact sellers to arrange collection via email, but it is the seller's responsibility to ensure they contact Handpicked after the selling period to arrange a collection. Walk-in collections are not available, and you must give 48 hours' notice before collecting items.
  • If items are not collected within a timely manner, they will be donated, as storage space is limited.

Modification of Terms:

  • Handpicked reserves the right to modify these terms and conditions at any time. Sellers will be notified of any changes.
